Metalworking Fluids

Lubricants for metalworking processes including metal cutting, metal forming, polishing, lapping, and grinding

Metalworking fluids, lubricants, and coolants play a crucial role in a range of metalworking processes including metal cutting, metal forming, polishing, lapping, and grinding. They are essential in reducing friction and heat, flushing away metal debris, and protecting tools and machines from wear and tear. Moreover, these fluids improve the quality of the finished product by enhancing surface finishes and increasing tool life. As a result, they are a critical factor in the success of metalworking operations, ensuring optimal performance, efficiency, and durability.

At Dyade Lubricants, we understand the challenges that manufacturers face in selecting and using the right MWFs. That’s why we offer a range of high-quality and sustainable metalworking fluids that are designed to meet the specific needs of different applications and materials. Our MWFs are formulated with advanced chemistry and technology, delivering superior performance, compatibility, and sustainability.

Grinding Fluids

Grinding fluids, which can contain extreme pressure or chemically-active additives, serve as coolants and are utilized to enhance and safeguard surface finishes. They may also be employed to disperse abrasive powders during grinding operations.

Metal Cutting Fluids

Metal cutting fluids are used in metal machining to improve tool life (reduce wear), increase lubrication, reduce workpiece thermal deformation, improve surface finish, and flush away chips from the cutting zone.

Metal Forming Fluids

Metal forming oils, greases, and fluids are designed to enhance lubrication during extrusion, wire drawing, stamping, bending, swaging, rolling, embossing, and other deformation processes.

Mould Release and Release Agents

Mold releases and release agents are film-forming lubricating oils, solid lubricants, waxes, fluids, or coatings that prevent other materials from sticking or adhering to an underlying surface.

Quenching Oils and Heat Transfer Fluids

Quenching oils and heat treatment fluids provide rapid or controlled cooling of metallic parts. They are used to temper, harden, or treat the material to achieve desired physical properties.

Flood or Mist Coolants

Heat transfer fluids, such as flood or mist coolants, are crucial in machining operations as they help dissipate heat generated at the tool chip interface. By doing so, they enable heavier cuts, faster cutting speeds, and improved surface finishes in almost all machining applications.

Alternative extreme pressure additives

Chlorine and DCHA (dicyclohexylamine) are commonly used as extreme pressure additives in metalworking fluids (MWFs) to improve their lubricity and performance. However, the use of these additives has come under scrutiny due to their potential negative impacts on health, safety, and the environment. Chlorine has been found to be a potential carcinogen and can cause respiratory irritation, eye irritation, and skin sensitization. Exposure to high levels of chlorine can be extremely dangerous, and prolonged exposure can lead to serious health problems. Similarly, DCHA has been found to be harmful to human health and the environment. DCHA can cause skin irritation and allergic reactions, and it has been classified as a possible human carcinogen. DCHA can also be toxic to aquatic life, and it can contribute to the formation of harmful air pollutants.

To address these concerns, Dyade Lubricants has developed innovative MWFs that do not rely on Chlorine and DCHA. These new formulations can deliver the same or better performance as traditional MWFs, while minimizing the potential health, safety, and environmental risks associated with Chlorine and DCHA.
