The most common types of damage are milling scratches, plastic deformation resulting in hammered surfaces, cracks, and pitting. Repair options include mechanical repair, which is expensive and time-consuming, using abrasive paste, which is also expensive and results in high downtime, or using a running-in lubricant, which only eliminates slight damage and requires a large amount of lubricant.
